Crisis mode on LinkedIn is real, and it hits SMB executives the same way every time. A conference session ends. You have something sharp to say. You open LinkedIn, stare at the blank box, and the thought dissolves. You close the app. The moment is gone. You've done this forty times. That's not a creativity problem. That's a capture problem. The executives who build real LinkedIn presence have solved it at the point of capture, not at the point of publishing. Here's the protocol worth borrowing: Record first, write never. A 30-second to two-minute voice note between meetings is enough raw material for a complete, well-formatted post. The COO of a roughly $100M healthcare company described this almost exactly. She's at conferences constantly, has ideas worth sharing, and used to lose them before she got back to a desk. The fix wasn't discipline. It was removing the gap between thought and capture. Separate capture from curation. You don't have to know whether a thought is "post-worthy" in the moment. Record it, move on, and make that call later when you're not standing in a hallway. Batch the decision. Publish from a selection, not from pressure. When capture happens consistently, you end the day with options. That's a fundamentally different psychological position than staring at a blank box under deadline. The reason this matters at all: LinkedIn is genuinely underused by the people with the most credible things to say. Most executives either don't post or post the "thrilled to announce" content that connects with no one. Meaningful posts from senior people with real perspective get reach that almost nothing else in professional media can match. The content was already there. The capture was fast. The barrier was already gone. That's the whole protocol. Capture small, curate later, publish from strength.
