Name-dropping a prospect's company into a template isn't…

Name-dropping a prospect's company into a template isn't personalisation, and they can smell it. The standard B2B LinkedIn move is connect first, then message asking to talk. Everybody does it. That's exactly why it doesn't work. Dropping a prospect's company name into a template you send to a list is not genuine outreach. They've had the same message from other people this week, and yours reads identical to all of them. Real differentiation comes from knowing something specific about the person you're reaching out to. A post they wrote. A problem their industry is chewing on right now. A decision they made publicly that you have an opinion about. That takes time. Which is why almost nobody does it. And why the ones who do stand out immediately. The volume play is a race to the bottom. Every inbox is already full of it, and full inboxes are where good messages go to die. So the person who spends twenty minutes reading someone's last three posts before writing a single note wins the whole game against the person firing off fifty identical ones. Slower. Fewer messages. Better replies.
