I've been reflecting on my journey as an entrepreneur and wondering what got me started. My father was the real role model. When I was a kid he ran one or two companies of his own. He always seemed to have a wallet full of cash and free time to take me shopping or on vacation whenever he wanted. Other kids would ask how much my dad earned. I told them he didn't earn a salary. He paid other people's salaries. That answer felt impressive even then. He once told me that if you want to run your own company you need to make at least three times as much as someone on salary. The stress isn't worth it otherwise. I left college and went after that path. Now I've been down this road long enough that I've become unemployable. Nobody will hire me because they assume I'll just start the next one. They're probably right.
