That social feed worked for a time and became full of business content from people looking to advance their careers. Although people were always cautious about what they posted because they worried about their business reputation, it was always a little sterile. Since AI come along, LinkedIn has entered an identity crisis. The content is still sterile, but now the majority is AI-generated, and people hate it for its lack of authenticity. Even worse, it's a place where you're constantly propositioned by people trying to sell you something. It's like an AI-generated version of your email inbox. Not a place that anyone really wants to be. So what does the future hold for Linkedin? The product team is pushing back against AI-generated content with the "sounds like AI" feature, but that is just another way to kick the users who are creating content because they're not going to stop using AI. That's for sure. Much of their revenue comes from premium subscriptions in order to contact others and try to sell them something. And that's not going away either. Overall, we see a wholesale rejection of in-authentic content. And this is not a difficult thing to deliver: simply be yourself. Real human derived thinking is required. Massive scale of AI generated slop is not. One telling sign is that the younger generation hardly bothers to even create Linkedin accounts. There is a reason that TikTok has become such a massive cultural influence, and the LinkedIn product team should take note. What are your thoughts on the future of Linkedin?
