- LinkedInLinkedIn's AI crisis is going to resolve itself, just not the way LinkedIn thinks it will. The facts are undeniable. AI written content and comments are up enormously. Engagement is down because nobody wants to read ideas that did not originate from a human. And yet the people complaining are all using Claude themselves. Content creation has gone through a visible arc. Everyone wrote manually, then Claude arrived and authenticity collapsed. People called it AI slop and hated it (while all using it to write themselves). Now there is a gap between two things nobody wants: writing manually and publishing slop. LinkedIn is drowning in the middle of it. LinkedIn's response is misguided and doomed to fail. Their slop-flagging mechanism guarantees false positives and negatives at an unacceptably high rate. And here is the contradiction that should embarrass them: they are blocking accounts for AI signals while simultaneously rolling out their own native AI writing tools. You cannot win both sides of that argument. The real problem is not AI. It is inauthenticity. If AI content is near impossible to reliably detect, then what the pushback really reveals is a warranted dislike of content with no human idea at its core. The distinction matters. AI generating your content autonomously is slop, period. But if your thoughts are at the heart of it and AI is reformatting and distributing them, that is a productivity enhancement. Nobody wants to hear from a machine. Humans have to remain the origin. There is a format that solves this problem almost completely. Video. You cannot easily fake a human being on camera. That is not a theory. Look at TikTok. It became the most culturally significant platform on the planet on the back of short, raw, human video. People trust what they can see. If LinkedIn genuinely wanted to solve its authenticity crisis, it would be throwing everything behind video. Instead, its algorithm deprioritises video reach compared to text posts. Read that again. The platform drowning in AI-written text is actively suppressing the one format that is hardest to fake. That is a failure in logic. AI use is only going to grow. That train has long since left the station. The real question is not whether people will use it. It is how to keep real human insight at the centre of what gets published. Video is one of the most powerful ways to do that. That is the only version of this that ends well for LinkedIn, for creators, and for anyone who still believes ideas are worth something.
